Is there any point in the handwaving where Pulse should realize Alter Ego is male? It wouldn't necessarily change how he looks at him or feels about him, mostly just how he does his customary "hello/goodbye" gesture (he typically salutes men and bows to women). Even if it wasn't disclosed somehow, he would probably still salute him as that's kind of his default gesture.
