I REALLY like the sound of idea B there. It keeps a lot of the open ended nature of Smash Academy, keeping the premise similar enough that it could be adapted over. Each character can be there for different reasons, or have been promised certain things, or can even be jamjarred if they want. It keeps the best of both worlds.
