HALLOWEENIES '13
Smashies, do you know what time it is?
Do you?
YES THAT'S RIGHT IT'S
HALLOWEEMS!!!
On the morning of Friday, October 25th, the residents of Final Destination will awake to find that a Carnival has sprung up overnight on the fair grounds. It's large and extensive, and the general theme seems to be Fall. There's a corn maze, a haunted house, hayrides and pumpkin picking, along with all manner of classic carnival entertainment like rides and games and gross fried food on sticks, all with a decidedly Halloweeny theme. Anything you want at the carnival is feasibly there, and we encourage everyone to use their imaginations when it comes to fleshing out the fair!
BUT WAIT
There's something a little weird about it, and not just the fact that it sprung up overnight, out of nowhere. It's fun, sure, but in walking the fairgrounds you can't help but notice a strange energy from the whole place, a chill in the air that isn't from the cold weather. Everything seems normal, but every so often you might feel a presence. A quick glimpse of a shadowy figure out of the corner of your eye, a gentle touch on your shoulder while you're decidedly alone…it's clear there's something about supernatural about the whole event.
Just as the clock strikes midnight on Halloween, your suspicions will be confirmed. All at once the carnival's true purpose is made clear--it exists to summon the spirits of the dead, allowing them to oh-so-briefly enter the world of the living.
The good news is it's really not so bad! Most of these dead spirits are benign (this does not, however, exclude the possibility of more malicious entities--if anyone wants to get on that, we highly encourage it) and just want to chill out and enjoy the fair. You might even know some of them!
Yes, that's right. It's HALLOWEEN FOURTH WALLS. See, Halloween magic isn't just limited to the spirits of the dead--spirits from other worlds might find their way into Final Destination for a few brief nights. This basically means you can play whoever you'd like to play, appable in Smash or not! Invite your friends in other games to come play! It's a free-for-all!
HOWEVER
Since this is a Halloween event, we'd like to encourage some playing around with the whole spirits of the dead aspect. You'll see in the comment section there's a thread called REQUEST-A-GHOST. Let me explain you a thing:
The carnival will stay in town until Friday, November 1st, whereupon it, and all the spoopy ghosts, will vanish as quickly as they arrived, leaving an empty fairground the morning of November second. While the Carnival portion of the event will last all week, and though we'll post an open log for each segment at the official start of the event on October 25th, the actual Fourth Wall Event will happen ICly from October 31st - November 1st. Our rules for fourth walling will be the same as last time with maybe one little difference:
Feel free to use this post for plotting! As always, if you have any questions or have any further ideas, please don't hesitate to ask them here or contact a mod. Happy Halloweenies!

• Does your character have a friend or loved one who is not here? Unappable? Who they thought they'd never see again? Who might, in fact, be a SPIRIT OF THE DEAD???
• Post to the REQUEST-A-GHOST thread requesting a character! A brief description and/or icon material might also be helpful. They can be a castmate, a relative, a dropped character, or even an OC you headcanoned into existence.
• Helpful ghosties (your fellow players) may come along and express interest in playing that character for the duration of the fourth wall event.
• Go look at other people's requests and maybe play a ghostie for them! We REALLY ENCOURAGE THIS so that everyone can have a special person visit them from BEYOND THE GRAVE.
• Enjoy your trauma and/or chance to say what you never said.

Our rules for fourth walling will be the same as last time with maybe one little difference:
• Only members of Smash Academy will be able to make posts insmash_logs and
smashacademy. Ghosty posting is limited to tagging entries and logs.
• Any posts made in the game communities must be appropriately tagged: * event - 4th wall weekend forsmash_logs and *4th wall weekend for
smashacademy.
• ANY CHARACTERS BROUGHT IN ARE NOW SPOOPY GHOSTS. This doesn't mean they have to be dead in their canon, only that the carnival allows them to come to FDC as a spiritual projection from another world. One second they were going about their alive business back home, the next, they've been transported and spoopified. All the fourth wall characters are intangible and can float, though, so maybe that is a pretty sweet deal. Characters already in Smash Academy will remain as they are.
• Invite your friends! Seriously, this event is for everyone, even if they don't play in Smash. Spread the word in the following weeks! When the event starts, we'll provide a big old modly info post for people who are just dropping in.
