Shocky, what's all this Dream Event business?

STUFF'S GOING DOWN THIS FRIDAY. But I'm putting the log up on Thursday because I'll be gone most of the weekend.

Basically, Casey is going to get into her roommate's stash of drugged up lollipops - green and yellow ones in particular. This means she'll fall asleep with a mouthful of candy and be having some pretty vivid dreams, and her already potent psychic powers will be increased tenfold.

Minutes after falling asleep, her mind will reach out and connect with others, weaving everyone's subconscious together. Shenanigans ensue.

How does that even work? What kind of dreams are we having?

Basically, your character goes about their normal dreams. But something's a little off. They might notice a door or a hallway or hole or something. If they choose to go through it, they'll end up in Casey's dream, which will be acting as a hub of sorts. There are plenty of doorways to everyone else's dreams in here, so feel free to pop in on other people!

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE.

Skull Kid has been taking a few drugs of his own, and his own dreams are going to be pretty disturbing and powerful enough that some creepiness might find its way into everyone else's dreams, too. This is completely optional, and how much his dreams influence your character's is entirely up to you.

Can our characters dream about other characters?

Sure, why not. But the minute the 'real' character comes into the dream, the dream copy will disappear.

Is dream logic allowed?

YES. Maybe your character flies in their dreams, or just happen to know things about their own dreams (not other characters' deepest darkest secrets or anything, but maybe a box has just appeared and they already know what's in it), or their hands suddenly turn to jello. Anything goes.

My character's a dark type/ghost type/robot/someone with a weird sleeping pattern! Can I still play?

Of course! We'll just say the yellow lollipops were enough to take Casey's psychic power to rule-breaking levels and things that are normally immune to it get sucked in too. She'll also be sleeping a full 24 hours (not much of a stretch for her lazy ass), leaving plenty of time for people with any kind of sleeping pattern to join in.

Will my character remember their dream?

Totally up to you.

So what will be happening in the waking world during all of this?

Business as usual. People more attuned to psychic shenanigans might feel a little dizzy or have mild hallucinations here and there, but nothing debilitating. Casey will also be teleporting all over the place, upside down, on the ceiling, several times per hour. Weird.

SOOOO, I was wondering if characters can take part in the dream event, but don't have to actually have a dream of their own. As in, just letting them take part in other people's dreams but not have their own dream. A DREAMLESS SLEEP, etc etc... IS THAT ACCEPTABLE

his dreams will be so weird and extraordinary. they'll have less traumatic and dark bs than shadow's, for sure. expect things like being a part of a reenacted jack in the beanstalk starring n harmonia or having to drive away from an avalanche of jumpluff.

His dream will have tons of black spots due to no memories. There's one spot where it's a mansion of sorts with tons of books where he first remembers as Sig, and the rest is full of bugs........

X will be likely dreaming of home, about Dr. Cain and the happy times, or about his more...pressing guilt issues (I'm the reason Mavericks exist what do, what is my purpose of existence, etc).

That, or he'll have...normal surreal dream stuff, like him becoming a cat or wandering through an endless library or something (the library being his internal files, but shhh).

Ami will most likely dream of Primp. Except possibly more sugary and happy that you feel like you stumbled upon a fluffy, cuddly kid's show. There would be dozens of Puyos everywhere, they are however quite harmless.

There are even duplicates of the citizen (Sig included unless he walked into the dream himself), but are pretty much more happy than they might be in the real Primp. Basically, an even more sugar-coated version of the town.

What's funny though is that you may see two vague figures from the distance, even if you try to run after them- they'll still look like they're very far.

WHOOPS. I don't know what to do for my own event. Casey's the only one I have mapped out, for obvious reasons, but I completely neglected everyone else.

Aquenda will probably dream of Azeroth. Probably the pretty forests of Ashenvale, since it's her favourite place. She also has a giant freakin bird ~spirit guide~ who frequents her dreams, and he's a cranky asshole and probably won't take kindly to intruders.

Blacky is probably going to dream of being happy. That's how you know it's a dream, right. I'm just not sure about the details. Dreaming of raising her kid and being a well-adjusted family? Dreaming of dead brothers? Dreaming of being alive? I DUNNO, MAN.

Casey is a secret for now.

Mary. . . might dream about the gallery? About her own personal crayon world? About the real world working to her own incredibly naive ideas about it? Not sure on her either.

this is a special occasion I think Edgeworth should dream about something silly and not angst-ridden for a change. like having to take his bar exam in his underpants or being chased around a giant courtroom. and then his teeth fall out because that's a thing that happens in dreams, or something like that.

phoenix and edgeworth should have a similar-enough dream that a giant Godzilla-size judge rampages through other people's dreams and smashes shit up with his gavel

Kazooie will dream about an endless race against Canary Mary across various landmarks in the Isle O Hags, and always falling behind.

Sonic is actually going to land himself in a nightmare. I've been dying to somehow make this detail known ICly, but it was something Sonic wouldn't talk about, as that's his nature.

SO IN SONIC 06, Sonic is actually murdered by Mephiles (sort of. Elise insisted he wasn't dead 'yet', but I think in the physical sense, he was, and time was already being corrupted/destroyed by Solaris at that point). Since I pulled Sonic from a point in Generations where time is still jacked up, he actually remembers this detail even though the 06 events were canonically erased from the current timeline, and sometimes he has nightmares about it. The only person here at Smash he even got close to revealing this to is Blaze.

Evve is just going to likely be dream-hopping, if I do anything with her at all. But if someone has an idea, I'd be open to it!

Phoenix: So Phoenix might end up having guilty dreams about Trucy since the whole thing with Apollo made him feel guilty. Or something.

Or else he's just going to dream about stupid shit like showing up to class naked by accident. Also the Godzilla-sized judge in Edgeworth's dream sounds like the best thing.

Byrne: Who the hell knows. It's probably going to be guilt and angst-ridden, and there's probably going to be a horrible version of Malladus that shows up or something idk.

Kanji: Again, I really like this "shows up to class wearing his underwear" thing. Which means I have no idea what he's going to dream about.

Chell: Yeah she's going to have nightmares about Aperture. Have fun with that one.

Allow me to summarize the main highlight of his dream with an in-game quote:

"If there were 17 siblings in the Striaton City Gym... There could be a specialist for each type of Pokémon."

Falcon often dreams about RACING. Sometimes these dreams are NIGHTMARES. You can possibly expect guest appearances by a guy who looks just like him but is slightly more psychotic and will probably try to kill you. There is probably a lot of fog and cars driving very fast.

Zelda's dreams are pretty all right. If you'd like to visit her, she will welcome you into a comfortable, airy veranda surrounded by trees and flowers and she will offer you tea and you can talk about your problems.

Also maybe a guest appearance by Hyrule on fire. Who knows?

Wheatley HAS NO IDEA WHAT DREAMS ARE REALLY HE'S NEVER HAD THEM BEFORE. So basically he's not going to have any idea what's going on. If you wander into his dream you will be greeted with a creepy, dilapidated facility, with hazy bottomless pits and a single lonely management rail high overhead. There are constant, OMINOUS FAR-OFF EXPLOSIONS.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but Pit might have a dream about flying all by himself, which is something he has always wished he could be able to do. Your character can open a door and just fall through the sky like "oh where does this lead SWEET JESUS I'M FALLING".

Whatever happens next might just be completely out of nowhere, but just expect to expect the unexpected with his subconscious. You might get to FIGHT MONSTERS or chill in Skyworld or meet Palutena or whatever other dream sequence gets rolling. I think I'd like to have it get affected by Skull Kid at some point too and then Pit's dreams can become creepypasta.

I've still been crunched between making up work and unpacking and crawling out of hiatus land so I'll probably err on the side of messing around in other dudes dreams but if you have a burning desire for any of the following I would be more than happy to oblige:

Samus: Frequently nightmares about space horrors and tragic pasts. Basically all the stuff that occurred in the second half of this log and didn't get written out sob. Sometimes she is Lady Samus and sometimes she is Ickle Babby Samus, so if you would like either flavor I can make it happen.

Seth/Warren: Has really pretentious eccentric weird dreams about being rich and cat-related things like golden litter boxes and people he doesn't like being nailed to a board so he can use them as a scratching post. If you would like to be one of these unfortunate people, please let me know.

Rick: ROBOT DREAMS ARE WEIRD but you can bet it's either going to be some smattering of 80's action movies which his core head on the main actor's body or basically this, though I know we've done a lot of "play around in Aperture events" lately so I am very flexible.

Ron is going to have a dream that he is back to being the great and mysterious Mask☆DeMasque, but this time, it's all on his own and without the help of a blackmailer or anything! HE'LL BE SO GREAT AND CONFIDENT AND THE PERFECT AND CONSIDERATE THIEF (the dream will probably resemble comic book level villainy and be like the intro to Ron's case.) YEAH MASK☆DEMASQUE YEEEAAAH ok who cares that will be a thing maybe.

You may have to deal with some backtagging on my part, but okay, I enjoy dreamin'.

Vinnie will be wandering around trying to find his way back to his own dream. As neat as all this is, he doesn't belong in other people's heads and he just wants to 'go home' his Garden. He will, however, not exactly look the same. It's been mentioned before that he's sometimes still an Ivysaur in his dreams, so his self-image will shift between evolutions. Half the time he'll be a teenager with too many face spots, a crew cut, and a bunch of injuries(?)

Pele will be dreaming of a world without oceans, where everything has been reduced to desert by the sun. If you land in her dreams, most likely you'll be wandering in endless sand, and good luck finding a doorway out.

Chun Li - Chun Li is going to have a nightmare about Bison and Shadaloo reviving and attacking the kids she's adopted and she'll be unable to protect them. Anyone is welcome to "save" her from this nightmare.
