Thanks for checking in! As noted in our September 2014 Rule Update, if this is your first time idling out of a player's check or activity check, you can reapp right back in, but if you do it again you'll have to wait a really long time before you can app back in. Seriously, please don't idle out.
Remember that mods are willing to grant strikes and extensions, but we MUST be contacted before the end of the check. If you receive either a strike or extension, you must make full activity on time next check. Signing after the end of the check without contacting the mods beforehand is an automatic boot.
AS AN ADDITIONAL REMINDER: Only hiatuses posted on the hiatus & drop post will exempt you from AC, so please remember to sign there! Simply posting to the community will not count. Thank you!
But wait... THERE'S MORE!
- March's AC will be bringing a few changes to the table about what will count as activity! We'll get a post up about that before AC gets here once we've got the specifics totally ironed out, but we think it'll really help get things going. Keep an eye out for it!
- March PERSONALS are up! You might notice there's something a bit new under game plotting...
- Because this month we're introducing HOUSE POINT CHALLENGES!!
Each month, a challenge will be presented that you guys can have your characters try to achieve over the course of the month. As characters succesfully complete these challenges, their respective houses will earn points. At the end of the month, winning houses will receive a reward.
Click the cut to get to all the juicy details~!
What kind of challenges can we expect?
Challenges can range from domestic sort of things ("fix leaking ceilings"), fetch quests ("locate some [video game specific] insects"), and the battling sort ("square off in [x] amount of random encounters!") to throw out some general examples. They are meant to help give you something for your character to work towards, and to encourage more logs and threads!
So will there be a challenge specific log for these?
Probably not! Participating in challenges can be done in any thread or log. You may find your characters in a situation that earns points completely by happenstance during the course of a thread without even planning on it! Say the challenge is about discovering something- it's as simple as finding a creek running through a forest. The island is yours to shape.
Are challenges the only way to earn house points?
Nope! While doing the challenges are the way to get the most points quick, they're not the only way. You can also earn points by:
- Using your house's specific facilities.
- Discovering new rooms or secrets in the mansion.
- Discovering landmarks to help expand your map!
- Winning a spar or random encounter. (Think of the island as a world map.)
- Learning a new skill!
Some of these daily sorts of options may overlap with challenges on some months, getting you even more points.
How are points distributed then? My house only has... 3 people...
Challenge Points = 3* per character per thread.
Daily Points = 1* per character per thread.
*Base points! If the submission really goes above and beyond, it could earn some bonus points.
Don't worry Swordsmen. When the houses are unbalanced, we'll be applying a multiplier to the lowest house so everyone has a fair chance at winning.
To earn points, you'll submit your threads to a submission post. While we highly encourage brainstorming fun additions to the island and the mansion, only verified on-screen contributions will count towards real points!
OK but what do they actually win?
Rewards will vary! You can count on your character receiving some sort of power boost after most challenges- they'll feel a little bit noticeably stronger in some aspect of themselves. They might also receive special items they could use in the tournaments or around the island, ala smash items.
Every three months or so will yield a special reward. This could be something along the lines of being given travel privileges- while you'll be required to come back to the mansion, you'd still be able to potentially go home or visit another world, so it's a big deal!
How is this going to go down IC?
Down in the foyer there will be four glass jars on the wall that will fill themselves up with different colored marbles
Challenges will typically be issued on the bulletin board.
The first challenge likely won't be all that obvious to characters until the end of the month when some of them get something nice. Of course they'll probably notice that those jars are filling up for some reason. How mysterious!
Even more mysterious is that they don't even need to tell anyone about their accomplishments. The jars just update all on their own, as if someone just knows. Weird, huh?
That's it!
We hope the system helps you guys find some fun new things to do! If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know.
The first challenge is already up and ready for you, and we'll have the submission post up in just a few days. Once we have those links, they'll be added to this post and the game navs accordingly. Have fun!
