Thanks for checking in! As noted in our September 2014 Rule Update, if this is your first time idling out of a player's check or activity check, you can reapp right back in, but if you do it again you'll have to wait a really long time before you can app back in. Seriously, please don't idle out.

Remember that mods are willing to grant strikes and extensions, but we MUST be contacted before the end of the check. If you receive either a strike or extension, you must make full activity on time next check. Signing after the end of the check without contacting the mods beforehand is an automatic boot.

AS AN ADDITIONAL REMINDER: Only hiatuses posted on the hiatus & drop post will exempt you from AC, so please remember to sign there! Simply posting to the community will not count. Thank you!

GAME DATES

Please take note of the following dates:
• December 7th will be our FIRST DAY OF SNOW. As mentioned on personals, after that day you can expect to see white on the ground more often than not.
• December 14th will kick off KISSTLETOES. A Smash Academy favorite, Kisstletoes are enchanted mistletoe that start springing up all over campus and may freeze your character in place (or do other whacky Smash Academy styled things) until they are smooched by someone.
• December 19th will mark LAST DAY OF CLASSES and the start of WINTER BREAK. Winter break will end JANUARY 2ND, 2015 and classes will resume Monday, the 5th.

We also have DECEMBER PERSONALS and DECEMBER CALENDAR up!

HI THIS IS KAT, YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD MOD-DIDDLY TYPE bringing you not one but two new bad dudes. One is passive aggressively psychotic and the other is openly aggressively ~~sega~~ psychotic.

Psycho #1 was

stay_classy_cat aka Seth Richardson as you guys probably knew him, actual name ~~smelly cat~~ ~~dick cat~~ Warren, and he DIED. But he's coming bask as as 2spoopy ghost type

nyamask because SOMEONE WAS MESSING AROUND WITH SHADOWBUGS AND SUBSPACE PORTALS. WHO WAS IT. WHO DID THAT. Anyway Warren is going to hang out in BW-01 which is the haunted dorm. He's technically a senior but will probably skip a lot of his classes in favor of haunting people and being a gigantic asshole again, so I'm sorry already. At least he's not hellbent on world domination anymore, ha ha... ha... [Application, Permissions, HMD]

Psycho #2 is

bloodvile aka Blood Falcon aka Captain Falcon's ~~evil clone~~ evil clone. He's six years old and illiterate and a freshman and a gigantic manchild. He can also drive a ~~giant bar of soap~~ car but that's probably his only redeeming quality. He'll be staying in BE-16 attempting to learn how to read and write while indiscreetly attempting to kill Captain Falcon. Woe and betide anyone who rooms with him. [Application, Permissions, HMD]

Psycho #3 is

icequeen_aran who is an intergalactic ~~booty hunter~~ bounty hunter who explodes planets and--oh wait... WHILE I'M HERE THOUGH WITH SAMUS, I'm thinking about wrapping up a few month+ old threads, which I believe are just as follows:

• Manus and Model Z FUUUUSSSSIONNNNN DAAAAAANCE: I'm thinking Manus will be pretty pleased to have a temporary set of armor like this and a it will be a unique experience for him, once he settles into the idea. (Barring moments he forgets he does not have absolutely privacy anymore ha ha ha...).
• Manus and Pit exploring the underdark: I know with Samus it was a bit more clear to her the statues are former Smash Academy residents but that kind of information isn't quite as profound to Manus who has no real ties or connections to here being new as he is. At a slight loss of what kind of direction to take this thread. He might want to see if he could revive any statues like Pit did but it's not something I really want to pursue OOCly since Pit already played that out. addendum: MAN I DIDN'T SEE THAT TAG I feel like a dweeb. I can do rhino fights lets go yeah yeah.
• Ian & Samus heart wrenching post AU discrepancies: fine with continuing to tag this for a bit but I imagine by the end of the thread they reconcile angst and old memories and maybe they both pass out on the floor in a sad cuddle puddle.
• Samus with skybus team to adventure island (ROB, Gordon, Joel): mission goals are to get them on the island, find Professor Hector's lab buried somewhere in the island and dig through his old research. This would reveal what's needed to get rid of the subspace portal and return everything to normal.

AND UNRELATED TO ANY OF MY DUDES,

HEY SMASHIES it's Importante Mod Announcemente time. Remember how last time we said we were gonna' move everything from the wiki over to DW? WELL. IT'S DONE!

The wiki will not be in use any longer.

Check out the updated Game Navigation. Every page has been updated with the appropriate links, so if have any wiki bookmarks saved, now's the time to get rid of them. If by chance you come across outdated information on DW, PLEASE let us know.

So we've done our paperwork which means now it's time for you guys to do the same. In our humble opinion you get the funner and easier version of it, though.

● Please UPDATE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION. We made a sweep of dropped characters but you have any new characters, please add them in.

● Please go here and add in your Character Class Schedule / Grade Level, ect.

● If you wish to run for student council, Go Here. (Note that at first it was first come, first served, so just look at this comments as people being interested in that position.)

● Please add in some character Heights/Weights. This is optional but most of you already have the information handy, so why not add it in?

● Please add in some character Birthdays. This is also optional but there's these cute little birthday cake icons Kat just loves putting on the calendar each month...

● Please update your Permissions Posts - if you have one MAKE SURE IT'S HERE. If you don't have one FILL OUT THE ONES THAT ARE HERE.

● Please check out the updated PREMISE and especially our shiny new updated MAP.

● While I'm here and this is also optional but HMDs are cool and all the cool kids do them.

And finally please check out the new dorm list as we have done the DORM SHUFFLE. Occasionally we shuffle around the dorms to accommodate empty spaces as characters come in and out. ICly, your character wakes up with all of their things exactly as they left them, only perhaps they are in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ROOM. Maybe with a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ROOMMATE?

Crazy Hand did it.

Alright, I've been bit busy ~~failing at life~~ and as such I forgot to post this earlier. HOWEVER, I am getting this up now ~~so not a total failure I guess~~. This post here is for a sign up for the boss battle tomorrow, where the students and staff of Smash take on GLaDOS. If you want your character or characters to participate in the battle, please just comment below with what characters you'd like to battle her. There's no real format to posting, just let me know who you want to have fight her. Once we have enough, I'll update the post with a list.

Hey guys, some quick mod updates!

GAME STUFF

As you're aware Smashperture Academy is now under LOCKDOWN. GLaDOS has sealed the school off, leaving only a few safe areas such as the dorms. Why, that's not ominous at all, is it? Who will stop this sadistic AI?

Check out the calendar or plotting post to see how this will pan out. When that is resolved, classes in Smash will officially start back up next week, August 20th.

ICON GLITCHES AND ICON MULES

Some of you may have heard on the internets that DW is finally getting around to fixing their "icon glitch". (I actually haven't seen it in action yet BUT I'm expecting the free ride to come to an end very soon. It was nice while it lasted!) So we're taking this moment to remind you that Smash is an icon mule friendly game. If you have extra accounts, please list them here, so we know to accept those community requests.

ALTERNATIVELY, you may find fortune in the paids community, or get use out of some creative coding if you can't afford the icons yourself.

SAYONARA, WIKI...

The wiki has continued to give us problems and frustrations (again!), and we've noticed only a few people aside from us who use it regularly these days, and that it can be very confusing to potential new players to have our information spread out all over the place. SO. (Hopefully.) By September we will have everything moved over to Dreamwidth.

What's this mean for you guys? NOT MUCH, TO BE HONEST. All the navigation links in the comm profiles and in mansionstaff will be updated once everything's ready to go, and we'll make another announcement reminding everyone of it.

Until then please continue to refer to the wiki, as we will keep it up to date until we're 100% ready to flip the switch.

POKESLOTS???

Yes, Pokeslots. While we've lifted the thirty Pokemon per Smash Academy cap, we still currently allow only two Pokemon to be played per person. This has recently been a subject of debate and the idea of a game-wide discussion came up regarding this rule.

HOWEVER, we've talked things out among ourselves first and we've decided to lift the Pokeslot rule. No more caps. We feel this is what majority would ultimately vote for, regardless of insightful discussion and regardless of how many ticky boxes we'd put up here. We're also doing this on the trust that this won't be abused. We've had caps on Pokemon characters since the early days of Smash for their stunning and persistent popularity. We don't want to penalize someone for liking a ~~Poketicular~~ particular canon but we also don't want other players to feel uncomfortable for a like of something in excess, or to engage in fad or impulse apps because "everyone's doing it". These caps were put in place to try and help encourage a wider diversity of canons, help maybe expand your pallet ~~town~~, and make you think very carefully about what characters you'd like to apply with.

We just want you guys to be aware of where the ruling's roots came from, and as such, if we notice a Pokesplosion overnight, we reserve the right to put the cap back on.

But for now ENJOY YOUR POKEMONS.

Still one Legendary Pokemon per person, no more than three of the same kind of Pokemon in Smash at the same time. Sorry guys, those rules aren't going anywhere.

DRUG PLOT

No school setting is complete without under-the-table distribution of illegal recreational substances, and dearest Smash Academy, your premisis is about to be infiltrated with some of these. Actually, you're too late. They are already here.

Wait, what, lollipops? Yes, these innocuous treats are actually very light starter drugs disguised as different colored lollipops. They're every bit as sweet and tasty as a real lollipop, and different colors will do different things. You can even mix and match colors for extra fun. Not everyone will react the same exact way, but they are VERY ADDICTIVE.

FRIENDLY REMINDERS

• GRADUATION is coming up VERY SOON. It will be Friday, June 1st. All the teacher types will probably be busy giving out their class Finals until then.

• Also coming up soon are the AC extensions! If you've been given an extension, you should working on it. Post your AC extensions here on or before June 9th!

• Something else everyone should be working on is UPDATING YOUR OOC CONTACT INFO and if you like, adding your dudes in our GAME HMD.

• Our WIKI could use some love and attention! Things like birthdays, couples/crushes, class schedules and heights; many of our talented resident artist types use details like this for reference when drawing characters, so even if you're only taking care of your own dude, that would totally help. If you need the wiki password you can find it here.

• We have a free-for-all NPC account (subspaceemissary) for all your NPC needs. Check out our previous mod post for details, the journal for individual NPC details/bios, usage/rules here, and account password here.

• app_this_plz is coming up again; this weekend! Shop around and use our handy ATP forms for all those castmates and characters you long for!

GAME CHANGES

• We've made some minor changes to our Reserve Form such as the text area, and App Forms such as asking for you to list characters you already play (if that's applicable). We're getting older and Smash has slowly been getting bigger so we can't rely on our magnificent mod brains anymore. This is a sad/triumphant day, indeed.

Effective Monday, June 4th are the following Rule changes:

• We are EXTENDING OUR MAXIMUM SLOTS from SIX to SEVEN! Same rules apply for anything over five slots; you provide activity samples before we approve it.
• We have thought long and hard about this, and are GETTING RID OF THIRD PARTY SLOTS. Yes, that's right--app as many "third party" characters as you want starting Monday.
• We will make another rule change as part of this year's graduation celebration, so STAY TUNED...

FOURTH WALL WEEKEND & NEW BLOOD

As our Fourth Wall Weekend comes to a close, we'd like to thank everyone for participating, regardless if you are in Smash or not. And if you just recently joined us, WELCOME! We've had a lot of lot of new blood come in these past few months, so everyone go ahead and make them feel at home. ♥ You may continue backdating 4th wall stuff as long as you desire, so long as it is contained in the appropriate tags. Could you give us input on what you thought of the future dating? Did it work for you? Was it confusing in anyway? Do you think a week was too long or not long enough? Would you like to see "big events" done like this in the future?

ICly, you can thank the little robot who could for saving the day: R.O.B. reversed the polarity of the portal, and all the "strange space people" went back to where they belong, (except for Caroline and possibly Cave, correct me if I'm wrong) Sunday night. Any carnage or damage caused by them will remain, such as the demolished buildings in FDC due to the Kraken. Don't worry, considering this is Final Destination City, things will get fixed up sooner or later...

ACTIVITY CHECK

Yes, it's about that time. Head on over to the ACTIVITY CHECK. page and sign in. Between Beauty Pageants and Auctions and Easter Bunnies and 4th Wall shenanigans, we figure there should be plenty of activity going on between all your dudes. But if you're having trouble making it, don't fret! You've got a week to get some activity in. Go do Personals and make it happen.

MAY EVENTS/PLOTTING

Looking to the month ahead, we the mods do not have "big events" planned, with the exception of Graduation, which will take place technically next month Friday, June 1st, which you can check out on the updated calendar. We should also note that No Pants Day is this Friday. This can be an optional one-day event; if you want to have your character strut around without pants of their own free will, by all means go ahead. If you don't want to participate, those pants can stay on. If you want to participate but don't think your character would be so bold and brazen, the strange nature of Smash Academy can certainly help you out by rendering any pants they do try to put on instantly destroyed. Have fun with that.

FRIENDLY REMINDERS

• Everyone did really well tagging things during the 4th wall event, but we can't stress how important it is to keep that up, event or not. Please remember to tag your entries, whether it's in

smashacademy,

smash_logs,

smash_ooc or

smash_random. Tags help us stay organized and especially help for things like Activity Check.

• Did you know we have a free-for-everyone-to-use NPC account? NO? Or you did and you just totally forgot? That's alright, so here's a reminder:

If you'd like to see something in our game-advertisement, please don't be afraid to put in a request!

• And as a final reminder, and we really shouldn't be needing to remind you guys of this but please try to mind your manners. We don't expect everyone to get along or agree, and privately venting is certainly your own business, but we do ask for politeness and respect. Please be mindful that the things you say and do can easily reflect on Smash Academy as a whole, regardless if it's intended or not. It shouldn't matter is someone is or isn't in the game any longer, that person behind the computer screen is just as human as you and I.

Is getting its DW cherry popped and everything is SO BEAUTIFUL so you should check it out. And post if you have anything to share! Don't be shy. (As a note, we do plan on importing smash-creative from LJ, so you'll eventually (hopefully soon) see all the older posts appearing under the new posts. You won't mess any importing up by posting/commenting on DW, so no worries and post away.)

If you're still filtering in from LiveJournal and getting adjusted, WELCOME. WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG? We missed you. Or maybe you're brand new and desire some additional Educational Reading Material. Here's a page of stuff you need to do and a handwave meme if you need to figure out what you're continuing on LJ and what you're not.

We're still working on getting the "cloud" style tags to cooperate with our current layout for smashacademy. We know it's confusing having two different styles of tags between the network and the logs, so we really appreciate it, and thank you for your patience while we work on it. If we can't get it to work, we'll let you know and we'll switch 'em back.

Friendly reminder: You should be using the HIATUS AND DROP page! You are still more than welcome to announce them in

smash_ooc, but Hiatus and Drops will NOT BE OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZED unless you also POST THEM HERE. So if you don't post your hiatus in the right spot and AC rolls around, you will get das boot. If you need to find the Hiatus and Drop page, you can find it in the navigation page in

mansionstaff or in any of the community profiles. In fact, if you ever need to find anything ever again, chances are it'll be in headmasterhand or the wiki.

RIGHT, one last thing, speaking of the wiki... we may be moving it in the future. For now, continue using it as you normally would, and we'll give you a heads up when that may change.
