• A post or thread in smashrising, smash_network (When it's up and operational; substantial bulletin board threads with another character will count), or IC inboxes. Activity that occurs over AIM, in journals, musesboxes, or outside of that will NOT count, even if it is Smash-related. What you can do however, is copy that over into one of the acceptable places.

• !!NEW!! Open log starters that show a substantial look at your character's personality will count for 3 comments of your overall total. The community is currently full of logs that would count for this, if you need an example of what's good! This and this are examples of generic log openers that would not count for the extra comments, though the threads inside are just fine!

• If it's just a thread, we're looking for at least 6 comments from you. (So 12 comments if they are talking to someone, and they cannot be 1-2 word exchanges, or icon chains. We need to see your character's voice!) It can be 6 comments in a single thread, or 6 total spread throughout different threads.

• You may provide more than one link if you feel it'll help you pass AC, so long as they fall within the time limits described below.

Happy New Year, Smashables!

A few things of note:

● Activity Check! We're not doing one in December. Considering it's the Holidays and everyone has a bazillion things on their plates, December is a No AC Zone in perpetuity henceforth and so-on forever and ever. Sorry about the late heads-up. From this point on, AC will be routinely set for the 20th of the month and last till the end of the month. Some months you will have less days to fill AC, some you will have more, but it will be at the very least 8 full days which isn't so bad, right?

● Plot Relevant Things.
- The Moon is pretty much right there. It's been getting bigger slowly over time, almost unnoticeably, day to day. But now, earthquakes are more common, high tide is swamping FDC and a good portion of the city has evacuated for higher ground. Which means places on a mountain. Which means The Academy.
- All four Masks have been recovered from Garret, there's a door they go into and what does it do....? We'll have to find out! There's also a wedding planned at the clock tower between Flurrie and Eggman! With all those people and the masks gathered at the clock tower, that will open the doors (Literally.) for the final battle between Academy and Moon.
- So, if you had plans for destroying and/or waylaying the Moon, there will be a log for those. Want to get Super Huge and smash the thing? Go ahead! You have enough fire power to break apart a celestial body? Go for it! Planning to summon meteors and/or punch the stupid moon in its big ugly face? That's a thing you can try! If you have questions or need Moderator support for a plan you want to put into action, let us know here!

● Game Change Over
It's all ready to go when you guys are! It's been a long (Long.) time coming but everything is done. We'll be implementing the full change over on the 7th and running the game without substantial advertisement or promotion for a few weeks to ensure that all changes implemented are workable. There are a lot of setting changes, rule changes and changes to the functions of certain things that we want to be sure work. Testing must occurr. There will be cake. So, in essence it will be sort of a soft re-launch.

WHAT COUNTS AS ACTIVITY?

• A post or thread in smashacademy, smash_logs, IC inboxes, or tegaki. Activity that occurs over AIM, in journals, musesboxes, or outside of that will NOT count, even if it is Smash-related. What you can do however, is copy that over into one of the acceptable places. For tegaki, it needs to be an actual log and not a for-funsies drawing.

• If it's a post, a single post will do, regardless of the comments it receives, or lack thereof. If you can get us samples that have comments though, we'd prefer that.

• If it's a thread, we're looking for at least 6 comments from you. (So 12 comments if they are talking to someone, and they cannot be 1-2 word exchanges, or icon chains. We need to see your character's voice!) It can be 6 comments in a single thread, or 6 total spread throughout different threads.

• You may provide more than one link if you feel it'll help you pass AC, so long as they fall within the time limits described below.

• If you provided an activity sample in the previous activity check that involves only one other character, you can not use an activity sample this time if it only involves that same character. If you provided an activity sample previously that features multiple characters with yours, you are fine. We're trying to encourage branching out with your CR, that's all.

You must provide samples dated from August 1st, 2015 - September 2nd, 2015. Log starting dates do not matter, so long as the TAG DATES fall within the relevant time. You must fill out Activity Check by September 2nd, or your dude will get das boot. If your character was accepted on or after August 24th, you are not required to provide samples. However! If you want to, that's totally cool, and we'd prefer it if you at least say you're here so we don't accidentally overlook you.

If you're on a documented hiatus after August 1st, you are not required to sign or provide samples, but again, if you want to go the extra mile, or are able to at least check in, we'd really appreciate that. Note that hiatuses posted from August 21st on will not be accepted.

We understand sometimes you're just not feeling a character or you're having a lack of inspiration, or maybe Real Life is really kicking your ass lately. If you're having trouble with a character, you can talk to any one of the mods and we'll be happy to listen. We are willing to grant exemptions and extensions on a case-by-case basis, but you must contact us BEFORE THE CHECK ENDS. If you feel like you're character squatting but aren't sure what to do or aren't certain, discuss it with us and we'll do our best to help you come to a resolution. Letting go of a character is never easy, but we'd like to avoid character squatting as much as possible for the sake of our current and potential future players.

ACTIVITY CHECK RULES UPDATE

Now that Activity Check is monthly, we'd like to take a moment to clarify/update our rules. Some of these have already been in effect, but since we're going through these AC changes, it can't hurt to reiterate!

◎ Hiatusing through two checks in a row is prohibited. If you cited documented hiatus for this check, you will need to provide full activity for February.
◎ Along those lines, if we observe an extended pattern of alternating hiatus/activity, the mods reserve the right to contact a player in private to discuss their activity.
◎ In completing out future activity checks, please fill out the provided form to completion, even if you are on a documented hiatus. Include characters' FULL NAMES--no cutesy nicknames or partial names, please. This makes our lives easier when tallying the check and decreases our chances of skipping over you by accident.
◎ In previous checks, we have stated that hiatuses are viable as long as they're posted before AC goes up. We're pushing this back a bit. In future checks, you must hiatus before the 21st of the month. Any hiatuses posted after the 21st of the month will not exempt you from activity, and you will be required to post your six comments per character.
◎ Threads in IC inboxes will now count for activity! Acceptable thread length is six comments from you, and please remember that if your character's activity sample involves only one other character, you may not use a single activity sample involving only that character for the next check.
