First and foremost apologies for the delay, we figured it would be more courteous to wait until the DW downtime was over and everyone was awake again before posting mod announcements.

And a HAPPY NEW YEARS to all you wonderful Smashies. Can you believe it's been just about a year since we moved over to Dreamwidth? We've been very pleased with the move, and we hope you have been too. Here's to the start of another great year.

EVENT INFORMATION

This was suggested a while ago but we felt it was in poor timing. NOW, THE TIMING IS GOOD.

TIME FOR A BLACKOUT. It'll be just a little mini-event but starting this Friday, January 18th, there will be a series of unfortunate and extenuating circumstances that will bring the downfall of technology to Smash Academy, and everyone will be snowed in for the weekend, as seen on the updated calendar. More details will be given once the actual log goes up but for now here's the skinny:

• January 18th-20th the school will be WITHOUT POWER. That means no electricity, no heaters, no hot water, no TV, no gadgets, no gizmos, no network. The school's backup generators will work for only about an hour before mysteriously failing. The power will eventually be restored (and generators fixed) through FDC Power & Light.

• That won't happen until Monday morning however, as Mother Nature aka a wild and disgruntled Castform andor Articuno has decided it hasn't snowed nearly enough this season. Throughout the week the weather will be white and blustery until there's a full-fledged blizzard bearing down on the Academy by the weekend. Nobody in their right mind will be out and about in that weather until it passes.

You'll be snowed in and without power for a few days, Smash Academy. Better keep warm.

Well, uh, Liquid canonically is crazy enough to fly a helicopter in a horrific blizzard. And crash it. Good thing he doesn't care enough to try to leave unless he needs something. He then proceeds to run out of hair dye or drop his bullets down a drain or something.

Also he is pretty much immune to cold and will be laughing at all of you sad cold people. THAT SAID, if he's in a good mood he might try to help out. Or at least offer snarky advice.

If anyone needs a smug, shirtless asshat to tick them off, lemme know~.

Is probably going to be snowed in at the firehouse sooooo unless anyone specifically wants her she'll probably stay there. She will brave the winter snow if someone needs a winter rescue or supplies or something she is crazy and has a magical suit of space armor that dirty cheater like that.

Will probably be MYSTERIOUSLY NOT AROUND gosh he's been kind of not around a lot lately, hasn't he? (It's hard being a drug lord sometimes.) HOWEVER, like Samus, I am very flexible and should someone specifically want him I can make an exception.

RICK
Rick will be here and walking around with his cowboy boots. ADVENTURES IN THE DARK! He will be excited to explore and probably will not realize until too late that most human bodies don't do cold well for prolonged periods of time. Oops. Cuddles are especially welcome.

Falcon I am going to say gets stuck at the school for the sake of shenanigans. He will probably camp in his office and will light things on fire for you and/or light the way down a dark hallway if you ask nicely.

Zelda is super bummed out that her investigative plans are on hold, but she is the RA so that means she needs to make sure all the students are safe and warm and have lots of blankets and bonfire hot cocoa. NO BURNING THE DORM FURNITURE FOR WARMTH. Her plans to explore creepy lollipop-related churches will commence after the storm passes.

Wheatley is GOING TO DIE IT'S COLD AND DARK AND COLD and having a house under a desk in the library in a pile of sweaters and blankets and his own tears is probably not conducive to healthy living. Should you stumble upon this library hobo he will probably whine and moan a lot.

Ohmaigod. Living without power for days during a blizzard?

Lucca at can provide fires for warmth and light and hot water, so there's plenty of chances for CR there. So a lot of reading by candlelight and actually talking to people instead of just handing in her homework.

Gordon has been through worse, but this is coming at a bad time for him because all those teleporter parts are no use if there's no power to test the connections. Using his suit to go rescue people caught in the blizzard is an option but even it has limited power... I also have a mental image of him making a valiant effort with others to fix the generator when it first fails (which of course the thing catastrophically blows up instead. That tends to happen around him.) Whether or not any of those go down, I'm open to suggestions on what to do with him.

Eggman will want to get the hell out of there and away from everyone, if he's not waiting on the Egg Carrier for everything to blow over. Maybe getting robots to try and unbury him and possibly everyone else, but mainly just him. Because he's a dick.

R.O.B. I am thinking maybe loses power without any way to recharge himself. Could shut down and be inoperable. Because I'm a terrible person.

For Jolt I am assuming wiltybros Green team shenanigans will take place. Quick Char, smash open all the vending machines. His butt doubles as an emergency power source.

Blaze has her own source of heat and light, and people are welcome to hang out with her to keep warm.

Goombella lives off-campus, but she could have been working when the storm hit. But she's used to low light and heat because she's a mushroom because she's a mushroom.

Daisy will not be pleased and be in need of warming up.

And Banjo will probably hang out by the light of Kazooie's fire eggs, lamenting the fact that the pizza guy they called for before the storm will probably never arrive.

JOCK is literally a walking furnace. Covered in fur. He shoots fire from his mouth and is made for snuggles. WHO WANTS TO CUDDLE. He will also cook anything you need cooked with a well-placed flamethrower.

MAX spent three years living in a society without electricity because of time travel. So. This is sort of familiar to him. He also has a forge. But that's on the volcano. So probably inaccessible. THAT BEING SAID Max loves him some wilderness survival. And you don't need electricity to LIFT ALL THE WEIGHTS so really Max is pretty good. And working out is a good way to stay warm. He has several weeks' worth of protein bars in his room. Like there is literally a closet full of protein bars. He won't go hungry.

DUSTER didn't have electricity in his life until he hit his twenties. So. This is a little like home. He is, however, not particularly skilled in any sort of wilderness survival skills. He'll help someone else out to set things up, however.

APPLE KID will immediately go into working on a snow-powered furnace. He will complete it five minutes before the power comes back on.

BOWSER will set things on fire to keep you all warm. You may not want these things on fire. And he may be setting them on fire because his airship is grounded by the blizzard and he's a lizard and enjoys lava baths and not stupid world 6.

OLAF will descend on a wire during Act V to save everyone from death and dissolution.

BULBA is probably going to be alternating between being a good RA like Zelda and making sure everybody is okay and SHAMELESSLY PILING ON TO HIS TEAM FOR WARMTH please cuddle with him there are not enough sweaters. He will more than likely cuddle up to anyone cause the cold makes him shameless. If you wanted a tiny saur cuddle please be telling.

Lyra is probably going to be making a complete kid of herself and running around all over the place having flashlight parties. She does have a fire type for warmth, but she's made out of lava so PLEASE HANDLE WITH CAUTION? She may want to check in with castmates depending how awful at tags I continue to be (Flynn are you staying warm Flynn don't go outside you'll turn into bug/steel/ICE) too.

Kieran is probably going to go completely stir-crazy not being able to go outside or have any sun. Somebody may need to restrain him at some point. u_u

Alorah IS GOING TO FREEZE. Gold Team, she will probably want to stick with you.

Copy X is a ROBUTT so it is possible that POWER SOURCES might become AN ISSUE. Other robutts? Is this an idea we may wanna play with?

CHILI IS A FIRE-TYPE TRAINER! That means that everyone should come over and hang with his Fire-types and you can all be warm. Everyone gets to cuddle Pansear, who is the warmest. So yeah, Chili is always available for any shenanigans, always. `o`

ULKI hahahaha ulki haehah can't see in the dark. I hope this begins at night when he's trying to do something. Anyway, I don't really have any plans for him during the event.

RON needs someone to hang out with because he's going to be really lonely, but then he'll try to overwork himself or something until it's all over. Let me know if you want to do something with him!

Hello smoosh just an FYI I have a very opportunistic douchethief who will be taking full advantage of the lack of lights and cameras (aw yessss) to creep around and make a quick buck. Hide yo jewelry, hide yo cash, etc, etc. If you want your dudes stalked/eavesdropped on/pickpocketed by a creeper we can make it happen.

As for my other dudes:
KUMATORA: Can set things on fire with her brain and that will come in handy I bet
FLINT: is gonna go Survivorman and can show people how to start fires and boil water and stuff.
SKULL KID: Will probably use this as an opportunity to play practical jokes on people and play flashlight tag (and wear out the batteries)

And Flurrie is likely going to be holed up in her fancy condo or with Eggman somewhere whoosh /o/

I don't really have any set plans, so I'm completely open to plotting and doing something current.

Caim is probably used to not having anything in the way of electricity. I imagine he couldn't be the worst person to have as a companion during the outage.

Nabooru likely is also familiar with a lack of electricity. I'm tempted to have her start carrying around a torch as she travels the halls. Or perhaps something to do with those fancy Sage powers of hers...

Snake is probably going to be a bit blind, but he's likely got some kind of device on him that'll allow him to see better in the dark. But he might be more likely to leave people on their own than to genuinely help out.

Soryk would ordinarily be a bit lost, but considering he can use the light from his eyes, he'll probably be a good-looking flashlight for anyone who needs one. He may consider doing some dastardly deeds while the power is out. Be careful of anything you eat. It could very well be poisoned.

Voile will be my one character who doesn't actually know what to do without electricity. Chances are she'll be stumbling about and unsure of what to do.

Cid - defense and wandering the halls

I have this idea of, with how bad things have been in the city lately, Cid standing up and saying "we need constant vigilance." Like, shouting the halls, and making loud announcements in common rooms, gathering people and setting up a guard and watch program.

Serious problems? Maybe. Douchebags trying to steal food from the vending machines? Also maybe. People trying to have ~intimate~ encounters in the dark? That would be hilarious. "Whats that noise over he-Oh god, sorry"
